Rapper Sleeq Responds to San E’s “Feminist” with “Equalist”

Wow when I heard that someone was saying “feminism rap coming soon”
I said, oh yes, that’s right, the year’s almost over
Till when am I going to be the only one here?
Yes, it’s about time everyone knew
Actually it’s long overdue but still, and then
I saw your name and WTF
I wasn’t even interested in hearing your lyrics
Yet you came crawling back anyway
But I can tell you didn’t do any studying at all

You’re so shameless, typical baseless confidence of Korean men
You act out trusting in the power of your dick and the size shows
Reading a single book suddenly makes you a feminist
Oh, you worked so hard. Wow, it’s been a while since you read a book, right?

I was quite surprised when I read your lyrics
I heard all the people who do hip hop follow what goes on in the US
Make lots of money and met lots of girls
What else could you be saying with all that misogyny already there

But I saw that you were saying things from like 500 years ago
You’re saying things your grandma probably used to hear

There’s no gender discrimination these days
Our country is advanced, we’re a member of the OECD
Women don’t have to go to the army
Women don’t split the bill on dates
There are too many gold diggers out there
They steal our spots on subways and parking lots too

I’m hearing things from you I don’t even hear from the old grandpas on Line 1 anymore
You say, ‘I’m no fucking prince’, but whoever called you a prince in the first place
“I don’t hate women. Actually, my problem is that I love women too much”
You talk about misogyny when you can’t even define it, everyone but you sees right through it

The things you want
For women to also go to the army, for women to split the bill on dates
To get rid of women-only parking lots and seats designated for pregnant women
To split the costs equally in half when a couple gets married
For misandry to stop, for reverse discrimination to stop
Get rid of WOMAD, get rid of Megall
To trust you, because you’re different from other men

The things I want
For you to not kill me
For you to not rape me
For you to not beat me
For you to not blame the victim after killing, raping and beating them
For you to not push me out of the system while telling me to blame the system

It’s OK to have opinions, even unpopular ones, and I’m glad you decided to share this one. I can understand a lot of what you said (I don’t necessarily agree with everything). There were some things that bothered me as well, but in the end I came out happy and decided it was well worth it. I hope you don’t get much hate for this. Good luck 💜✌️

This is such a polite and respectful way to approach my post. I’m glad that you enjoyed the movie and thought it was well worth it! For me, it was worth it for Yoongi in that music store alone, so I’m still glad I went… I just don’t think it was very well done overall. I’d only heard positive things about it before I saw it so maybe I was just expecting too much.

Regardless, thanks for your maturity and understanding! You’re amazing.

What made me stan BTS

I know countless fans have already posted this on social media everywhere, but I think I’ll just share mine here. Please feel free to share with me your own experiences!

They broke into kpop with a relatively unheard of genre.

7-10 years ago, kpop was filled with electronic and bubblegum pop to which I was accustomed to. But then BTS debuted with Bulletproof and No More Dream, songs one can hardly relate to the usual genres. I used to dislike hiphop in the past, so I didn’t pay attention to them. Until they were putting out the Dark and Wild album. Then, I began listening to all the previous songs and I began to appreciate rap.

It made me realise that they and BigHit were brave enough to debut with hiphop genres in a time when mainstream kpop was not appreciative of that. So I really admired them from then on- The pop-rock elements in Danger and Boy In Luv really sealed that door on me to becoming an ARMY. Plus point: I now appreciate rap.

Their camaraderie and friendship.

In all the time I’ve been involved in kpop, I have never seen a group as bonded and close as BTS. Even in reality shows, you can feel the sincerity behind their actions towards each other (be it well-intentioned or not lmao). American Hustle Life was one train wreck but I enjoyed it tremendously. And the old Bangtan TV- the sneak peaks into their lives in between schedules, the endless games and chasing made me laugh so much. Furthermore, with BV now, one can be even more sure of the genuine nature of their relationship. Hell I don’t even have that close of a relationship with my own family. This really made me so touched.

And the most defining moment: Namjoon not even hesitating in deciding to stay with BTS when asked to choose between the boys or debut as a solo artist.

Oh boy. When I watched that secret camera- a secret camera of all variety formats- and Namjoon just chose BTS over his solo career, I cried a little. I could tell that the other members were very anxious behind the cameras and I was too, while awaiting his answer. I remember being so moved by Namjoon. The quiet solidarity with his team, friends and family even when he was put in the spot on a show and a secret camera blew me away. That was the most definitive moment of which I immediately knew: this is a group that I will invest my time in and support.

A Good Thing To Know!

https://www.tribecafilm.com/stories/the-truth-according-to-darren-wilson-a-narrative-ferguson-mike-brown

He made it with filmmaker and BLM activist Sol Guy and you wouldn’t know from the title, but it’s actually a short film, not a documentary, about Darren Wilson being a fucking liar.

Tumblr completely erasing the work of a Black activist/artist while simultaneously finding ways to slander an LGBTQ Jewish person at the same time due to literally not bothering to find out what the film was about in the first place? I’m shocked.

Why is your writing so specifically for blacks?

msbigredmachine:

brownsugarcocoabutterwildflowers:

…because I’m black. Because I write to represent myself and my peers. Because this Fandom is for us. Because for decades black people have been fetishized and marginalized as an accoutrement of the white hero or heroine of a story.

And also…

Because it’s my damn page and I wanted to.

What a nonsensical question. One I surely wouldn’t have answered without cussing out the idiot that asked.
