[BTS REWIND] BTS’ MEMES CALENDAR FOR 2018

mimibtsghost:

JANUARY: MIN FELL ON HIS BUTT

  • Suga fell on his butt sitting on the chair RM gave him
  • Namjoon said nothing like that happened, he called yoongi ‘min clumsy’
  • Namjoon kept clowning him and called him ‘민덩방아’ (MinFellOnHisButt)
  • Yoongi kept telling everyone not to laugh because it hurts
  • What makes this funnier is that Namjoon, the clumsiest member, called yoongi clumsy

FEBRUARY: JIN CUT HIS OWN HAIR WITH KITCHEN SCISSORS

  • Jin suddenly decided that his hair was too long and cut his bangs
  • Some moments later we realize that he got scolded
image

MARCH: SUGA’S GO AWAY RUG

  • On Suga’s bday, we realize the rug in front of his studio says: GO AWAY
  • This is so funny as Suga’s studio is the only one who has a lock + a rug like that. It’s like Suga is using every tool to tell people not to come.
  • The rug sold out in seconds

APRIL: BEARDTAN

  • The trend started on Fancafe where V said he will grow a beard, then ARMY being as extra as ever gave a beard to everyone. Jimin even saw it and was like “V said it so why me?”
  • On April fools many were changing their profile picture to BTS with beards, cover picture to beard yourself, no one saw it coming and bio with “ Hello we are BeardTS or Beardtan Sonyeondan
image

MAY: JIN EXPOSING HIMSELF

  • After a Run BTS episode, Vlive will as always share photos of the boys. But because Jin was screaming, Vlive hid his face as to protect his image.
  • Jin went to Twitter and exposed himself. He shared the photo that Vlive hid. Some hours later he even shared an edit. And everyone started using this photo in edits and photo profiles.

JUNE: BEYONCE AND HER SON PARK JIMIN

  • BTS & Beyonce’s fans have linked up to dominate the streaming.
  • An ARMY (being as extra as ever) said that Beyonce and Jimin look alike.
  • The tweet trended and memes about Jimin being the son of Beyonce were seen everywhere.
image

JULY: #ARMYGOINGTOJAILPARTY

  • After Bighit posted about content from ARMY 5th Room which should be only available to ARMYs who paid for it. ARMYs who refuse to let other ARMYs starving started sharing the links and sending the content to each other. More than that it trended WORLDWIDE. And of course, the memes started

AUGUST: HOW TO NOT BE EXTRA

  • From Jin going with an extra outfit toMusic Bank while everyone is dressed normally to Jungkook going super saiyan. This was August
image

SEPTEMBER: JIMIN RECREATING THE SQUAT AND SQUINT MEME

  • When Jimin was trying to read something in the crowd, this photo was taken and it quickly became a meme that ARMYs used for days
image

OCTOBER: JUNGKOOK LEFT HOME ALONE SO …

  • Jungkook decided to stay home alone in Malta to dye his hair. The thing is that he only dyed HALF. and the memes started going around how you shouldn’t leave kids home alone.
image

NOVEMBER: JIMIN & V LEAKED BTS’ HOTEL LOCATION ON VLIVE TWICE!!

  • The whole fandom was facepalming. But also the memes were getting numerous.
image

DECEMBER: THE JIN CULT

  • After Jin said that a certain photo with him in glasses is what he wants for his bday photo to be. The cult said YES! EVERY account changed their photo to Jin’s photo and edits and memes kept coming.
  • To make it better the Ruler of the cult, Jin himself changed their official twitter account layout to that photo and even the company printed them for his Vlive. There was even a photo on his Bday cake (talk about extra). Fandoms and everyone was literally scared.

I’m color-blind, but I can pick out that [Yves Klein] blue anywhere. I wrote 30,000 words on this color, and I never grew tired of it. The pigment is staggering. It’s amazing that a color can be so emotional. One can only hope to achieve that intensity in acting.

Tumblrpocalypse Special, Part 3

fanhackers:

[It occurred to me this morning that I missed a trick in not calling this series “I will go down with this ship…” Ah well.]

Anyway, here’s another instalment in our current special series featuring Tumblr and fan studies researchers’ personal and scholarly reactions to the Tumblrpocalypse. Today we have Lori Morimoto, whom you can find on here as @tea-and-liminality.

“My main concern is the effect it may have on the transnationality/transculturality of media fandoms as they currently exist on the site. Tumblr’s foregrounding of the visual – and, in particular, fan art – has opened up alternative lines of communication between fans from different cultural/language backgrounds that, in circumventing text, have really transformed “fandom” as we talk about it. Places like deviantArt and Japan’s Pixiv (and a host of other Chinese sites) have some of that cross-cultural quality, but the sense of belonging in a given fan community through visual contributions has been fairly unique to Tumblr. I know some of that transculturality has shifted to Twitter, but I wonder if this will ultimately lead to a kind of cultural resegregation in media fandoms going forward.“
