If you’re new to the fandom, please for the love of bangtan, don’t be an asshole. Just don’t. This fandom has gotten so increasingly toxic over the past year and a half, that I honestly am so ashamed.
No, we don’t need to fight every single person who says they’re not into our boys’ music.
No, we don’t need to be present in every conversation that revolves around Kpop. Because news flash, Kpop isn’t just BTS.
And absolutely no to the fact that we don’t need to spread negativity and hatred in the alarmingly fast rate this fandom has been doing. Because that’s EXACTLY the OPPOSITE of what BTS wants us as a fandom to do.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that our fandom has grown so much and the support our boys receive is beyond what they could have ever imagined… but growth in numbers also means we’ll have more complicated fans that make things difficult. So please if you see that kind of behavior call them out. We are the most hated fandom probably in the world right now, but that isn’t just because of haters, it’s because of our fandom’s behavior too.
We need to call that stuff out. We need to be better. We need to spread LOVE to our haters, not ANGER. This fandom has been through so much over the past 5 years, but that doesn’t give us the excuse to emulate the same behavior we were given before BTS got this far. We got this far because we started off with love and positivity that helped us break through the barrier. Don’t ever forget that. Just cause we’ve broken it doesn’t give us the right to now act like those who gave us pain previously. BTS doesn’t want that. They would NEVER want that.
hey! so, minors can have crushes on adults and be attracted to adults. that’s… pretty damn normal? i had plenty of crushes on 20+ year old celebrities when i was a young teenager. there was a teacher at my middle school i had a crush on, too. but! if that teacher, or any adult, ever reciprocated those feelings for me, i would’ve been terrified and extremely uncomfortable. adults are not supposed to have crushes on minors. they are not supposed to be attracted to minors. a minor having a crush on an adult is not the problem here. adults returning those feelings is the problem.
