Yes I spoke
about it in April when there was so much speculation about the themes of BTS
new album.
Yes, we can all be proud of the President of
South Korea being very outspoken about BTS. Iām sure the members were honoured
and still are. But being proud doesnāt mean that we have to be blind or naĆÆve.
How could he not be outspoken? BTSā popularity
has exploded internationally. However, with a political figure, no matter the party,
their views, their values, everything is about politics.
I doubt that the President has a definite agenda, but itās obvious that his link to BTS is working in his favour, he
needs BTS more that they need him.
While people are fawning over the photos of the
President hugging the hard working and wounded BTS Maknae, Jeon Jungkook, like a
soldier coming back from the battlefield, nobody is paying attention or mentioning
Moon Jae-in poor approval ratings, his weak policies or his government inability
to resolve persistent economic issues, like the unemployment rate, income inequality,
debt etc.
Yes, he
looks like a nice grandpa, but he spat on a whole community, a minority to
assure his victory and heās a homophobe. You can be sure that he wouldnāt want
to be associated with BTS, if one of the members or more were gay. And people
wonder why there is no coming out celebrations in Kpop.
I donāt
think the president per se, or their association with him would/is preventing
them from speaking about important issues, such as suicide rate, the education
system, gloomy economy, homosexuality etc. I believe like I stated that their several endorsements (LG, Kookmin bank, Lotte etc.) are already stopping them from talking about those issues.
I believe they
have many parameters to consider now in their creative process, parameters they
didnāt have when they were at the beginning of their careers. They have more to
lose now.
Yes, I
agree with you, somewhere along the way, BTS has lost a piece of who they were.
But I understand that they are in a very difficult position.
However when they
would look back at their legacy, would they wish that they had done things
differently? Being the first Kpop group (because others will come and do the same) to conquer
new territories, break records etc., could it be enough for ALL of them?
Today October 14, 2018, ARMYS got kicked out of kpop by the United Kpop OrganizationĀ (at least thatās what they call themselves) but instead of crying they turned it into a joke and said: We are not getting kicked out we are leaving and started the hashtag.Ā
According toĀ BTS_ARMY_INTĀ ,Ā #ARMYIndependenceDay is an international holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on October 14, 2018. ARMYs all over the world regarded themselves individuals under their supreme leader Kim Namjoon and were no longer connected to the k-pop community. Here is the flag that is going around that I tried to remake and explain:
White: is associated with light, goodness andĀ it takes the center part of the flag. It means ARMY are willing to do good and help others while guiding BTS into becoming living legends with a light brighter than anyone.Ā
Purple: is often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. But for ARMY itās also the color that means according to BTSā TaehyungĀ āPurple is the last color of the rainbow colors so it means I will trust and love u for a long time.ā It signifiesĀ that we will love BTS and each other a lot and for as long as we can.Ā
Black: itĀ represents strength, seriousness, power, and authority. Itās our way of saying we willing to be strong and stay strong for our boys and each other.Ā
The BTS symbol: This symbol means that BTS will protect youth from prejudice and itās being in black means they will do it with all seriousness and power. It is in the center of this flag meaning that we donāt forget our main goal.Ā
The leaves of peace: It means freedom from disturbance; tranquillity.
Jimin hyung, congrats on your birthday happy beollddayĀ
(T/N. He says ė²ė¼ģ“ (beolldday). ė²ė¼ means swarm of bees in Korean, but it can be an exaggerated pronounciation of the Engish word Birthday. An equivalent expression could be Bee-day.)
