IF 2013 BTS MET 2018 BTS:

2018 BTS: Hi little one
2013 BTS: Who are you?
2018 BTS: I am YOU from the future
2013 BTS: What? we still didn’t disband in the future?
2018 BTS: No little one we are as strong together as ever
2013 BTS: So what is our future like?
2018 BTS: You achieved big dreams
2013 BTS: What? we got our first win?
2018 BTS: Even bigger
2013 BTS: Then we composed a song by ourselves?
2018 BTS: I mean you-
2013 BTS: No way! then maybe we performed in front of 10000 fans? Oh, no way no way. Sorry I got carried away. BTW in 2018 are we close to winning a Bonsang (Mainprize)?
2018 BTS: Little one, in 2018 you will win 2 Daesangs (Grand prize)in ONE night.
2013 BTS: There is no way I will ever get one. Look at me I come from this small company and even though I try hard there is a limit to my dreams.
2018 BTS: Aren’t you the one who sang in No More Dream “Dream a dream now. Stop hesitating, stop being indecisive”.
2013 BTS: But-
2018 BTS: Listen to me, in 2018: You fly in a private jet. Wear expensive clothes and rings. Live in a big house. Have a real worldwide Tour from Japan to Paris. Perform in Domes. Produce your own songs. Love each other stronger than family. Buy luxury apartments with no loans. Get a movie and a documentary. Perform at BBMAs and AMAs AND even win awards there. You will be so successful Korea who will not care about you for years, you will become its pride. But more importantly, you will have a fandom so powerful. You will just need to wish for them to give it to you. They will stand by you in hard times and good times. They will take away your tears of pain and together you will cry tears of JOY. SO, don’t stop dreaming. Because even in 2018 we still got even bigger dreams.
2013 BTS: *crying* thank you. I will work hard.
2018 BTS: I know. I have been there ^^.

THIS IS THE BEST INTRO I HAVE EVER SEEN.

As someone who did salmunori when I lived in Korea, I just want to say that having BTS support traditional Korean arts is huge because there is kind of a stigma with the younger generation about how ‘uncool’ and ‘geeky’ these things are. It is so awesome to see them celebrate something so beautiful!

White girls who stan kpop bands and and act superior because they arent exclusively attracted to white celebs but are also attracted to those korean artists are so fucking funny because when you go to their kpop blogs and see their thirst posts about those kpop band members its less of “I dont believe in eurocentirc beauty standards and thus find these people who arent white quite attractive too” and more of “I find these non white people hot because they seem exotic and mysterious to me and 85% of my attraction to them is made up of me fetishizing and objectifying them because they are different from other white men” lol

This is partly true, but to be fair these girls are also attracted to them because they are unthreatening and a little effeminate. Which is especially attractive to young women who are a little childish still and are thus rather repelled from a very masculine or aggressive man. I mean… BTS is not going to rape anyone, I guess? So be a little easy on these girls, because the matter with South Korean Boy Bands is a little more complex than just that. It is true, that they also fetishize they’re asian heritage and that’s pretty racist, but that’s just part of the story. And in the end, they’re also just kids and in case you don’t have super woke parents, you just are a bit of a biased shithead at that point in your (white) live. They will learn and be better one day, but for now they’re just teeny girls who are into not-rapy boys. Go a little easy on them. They’re basically babys and it’s not like they’d kill black transwomen in dark alleys.

this makes light of the gender-based discrimination violence that occurs in korea, as well as east asia. just because kpop boy groups give off the image of being unthreatening does not exclude them from being discriminatory or prevent them from inciting acts of violence.

furthermore, a harmful stereotype of east asian men is that they are not masculine enough to be considered as men. how this relates to toxic masculinity is another discussion to be had. however, this view perpetuates a commonly held image in western media of asian men being rather feminine, and display asian men as one/two-dimensional beings instead of actual people.

the upbringing of one individual does not excuse their behavior. if they are posting such views on a public platform and they are then called out for it or are told that their feelings and objectification of east asian men is not acceptable then they should own up to their mistakes and take the opportunity to learn why their views were wrong and racist.

also the demeaning of east asian men to be harmless babies is something that should not be done. the belittling of any group to be characterized as such should not be done.

I know that the context of this post is talking about those in kpop boy groups and the perception of them but it is incredibly hard to ignore all the racist, prejudiced, and belittling behavior that the west has pushed onto east asian people and east asian media. these views of east asians do not exist in a vacuum, but are rather cultivated and reinforced by a eurocentric view of the world that is displayed prominently in western media.
