Epiphany, musically speaking, is such a simple song and she was totally thought to be a simple song so we can get this raw felling about self-love. The most beautiful thing is that Jin and his capacity on interpretation and deliver of emotions while singing actually showcase all those messy feelings of trying to find yourself and love this person, who is you, your actual self. At the beginning, he is so hurt and you feel it and your heart hurts so bad… It’s like he is holding back, he is scared of that. He forgot who he was, I mean he shaped himself for another person and now he come in touch with who he is again. Whoever got through it knows, that is scary! You literally let out of the hand that actually guided you and just turns into a different person and Seokjin sang it like that, showing all those raw emotions of lost, fear and acknowledge of what he should do, even tho that would hurt the other person and even himself at that moment. It’s such a hard decision. All the “I’m the one i should love” breaks my heart because you feel the angst. He is that spectacular!!! By the end of the song, you can feel he is still scared, but something has change. The song begins and you have a not in your troath and by the end, there are some kind of reliaf, but that feeling is still there and that’s it, that’s exactly the journey of getting comfortable with yourself and practicing self-love, it’s a roller-coaster. I’m so thankful they gave this song for him! No one could’ve done like that… No one!!! He is that artist, he feels and show it off in his art. Jin’s voice and interpretation made epiphany what she is! I’m so proud and so thankful.

THE LOVE YOURSELF SERIES ENDED BUT:

The flowers who died turned now into hearts but not any hearts, hearts of self-love. the line is also not ending (look at the last heart), meaning that the end of a love story is not always the absolute end. That love goes on and it’s by loving oneself that we can love others. And that’s the answer that we had in front of us all this time but only truly realized it after epiphany: ‘Love Yourself’. You may not be perfect but you are enough. And when you love, do it truly by being yourself. BTS tell here a story of a love that felt like serendipity, a love so true it was like destiny like it was in their DNA to meet. But it turned out to be a fake love because each kept putting on a mask which resulted in singularity and tears. But in the end, we realize that the answer and the epiphany were always loving oneself. It’s embracing the end and the feeling of hurting and our own self. So love yourself little by little until you know your own value. It’s not going to be easy and it’s not easy. If it was love yourself series would have ended in one song. But the long path is worth it.

i think smth very chilling abt epiphany is that it feels like an ending ? not only does the song itself sound nostalgic and calming, the closed door being the final sound of the mv is literally showing the end of one era and the start of another, and the glitching effect on the other members indicates a change in the system. this is a masterpiece. such a masterpiece. i’m so thrilled that jin is the one to end this era bc he deserves that presence.

I’m just thinking about how Namjoon chose each member of the vocal line for their range, depth, emotion, tone, and style for each of these intros and how he selected epiphany for Jin. The answer. The lyrics to showcase what true self- love is. Because that’s what suited him best in every single area, and it was worth the wait.

he spent years trying to fix why went wrong with his friends and when he couldn’t fix everything (because when you change one thing in the past, it causes a ripple in time and changes something else) he blamed himself. hated himself for it.

then he realises, had an epiphany, that it was okay to not be able to fix everything.

he learned to love himself despite not getting the ending he wanted in the first place because he found a new version of a happy ending that him and the rest of the boys would have wanted. self-love.

asjdhklajsdf even the covers are fucking genius wonder starts out as a sprout or seedling (discovering love, wonderment)

then in her it blooms (happy in love)

then in tear it dies and withers (fake love)

then in answer it turns into a heart (self love, true love)

in conclusion
