ok but,, I started listening to bts thanks to dope, and although I really liked their videos, after that I didn’t pay much attention to them for a few months, and one day bored I started looking up the meaning of all their lyrics, and that’s when I knew I was doomed.

Yes, Black men in majority white spaces do. If I don’t smile every single second of the day my coworkers become in intimidated and start asking me what’s wrong, telling me to smile, make jokes about how I’m trying to be a thug/act hard, why am I angry, etc. And it’s not just white men at my job God FORBID I my large Black ass makes a white girl feel threaten because I’m sitting down with a neutral expression.
I’m not trying to take this post away from women and make it about Black men but I want to point out that wether it’s patriarchy or white supremacy; those who feel as if they have power over you HATE to see you not smile. They are so used to people like you smiling to gain their approval that when you don’t there’s a cognitive dissonance that makes them extremely uncomfortable.
That’s why “angry Black women” is a thing. They have to put on a smile for everyone (yes even feminist white women) or we all get uncomfortable.

one of the reasons i feel ……. about non-korean kpop fans making quirky edits like “xxx group/member is an lgbt ally !! i stan!!” (when they’ve never explicitly said so) is because korea is so homophobic to the point where it doesn’t even recognize gay folks so..it just weirds me out to see people from other countries (usually countries that already legalized gay marriage etc) do this. i feel like it trivializes the homophobia here in korea, or just the fact that they think all cultures are on the same ground about lgbt issues feels ignorant to me. ofc korean fans fetishizing lgbt communities by shipping rl kpop members is a whole other topic but yea.
its very tricky to talk about lgbt issues in korea/kpop because there are so many layers to unfold. there’s the kpop industry and it’s tendency to be inauthentic (as in, everything these groups do are ordered by their label companies, so you never know to what extent their behaviors are purely their own or part of their “marketing tactics”), korean churches and its deeply rooted religious homophobia, the issue of interpreting real life people as fictional in order to fetishize them yadda yadda. it’s a loaded topic that isn’t going to go away because some non-korean fan makes an “feminist lgbt QUEEN, stan (insert group name here)!!!”. if anything, I think korean entertainment companies are exploiting these non-korean lgbt fans by queerbaiting because they know its how to get the fans reacting. and obviously this won’t change the homophobia in korea, but instead have them seen as objects of fetishization even more.
Now I know I’m going to get a lot of hate for this, but I believe that this needs to be spoken about; especially when BTS’ campaign is to support/aid those who are/were victims of child abuse. To work with Nicky Minaj who has recently (this is her second time ill explain it further down below
) come under fire for supporting a pedophile is not only problematic of the band, but it is also hypocritical. Most will excuse their actions by saying they
“Didn’t know about her”, when in reality they should at least research the artists they chose to collaborate with, especially when they are the supporters/creators of a campaign like that of LOVE MYSELF.
Why Nicki is getting called out/ Who is 6ix9ine
Nicky has recently been under fire, due to her collab with the “rapper” 6ix9ine. This rapper is currently under trail for engaging in sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl and also for allegedly choking a 17 year old back in January. This not the rappers first time with assault allegations as he was also jailed for assault and the sale of heroin. 6ix9ine has also snap chatted a video of him calling himself a “happy r*pist” linked below I will put articles that detail his offences and why he is problematic. Even after these allegations, videos, and previous jail time Nicki still chose to collaborate on a song with him (FEFE), where in the video they play children games like that of patty cake. Her collaborating with this man is extremely problematic as she is aiding to continue this mans career and also helps to further ‘legitimize”this man and his career. Again I will link an article that does better explain why this collaboration between her and him is so problematic. (Seriously think y’all should give it a read as it is amazingly written and explains the issue in great detail) Nicky is also being called out for this collaboration because in 2012 she tweeted “And for the record on sum serious shit, I believe people who abuse children should be stoned to death in public. The end.” (twitter). If this was her honest belief why would she collaborate with him? Nicky minaj has also supported her brother, when he was on trail for sexually abusing his step-daughter (and was found guilty). Now I know this is her brother, but when a men or women is charged with something this horrendus, family or not the victim should be the one supported, NOT the perpetrator. Again I will link articles on this case and why it is problematic for her to support below. Nicky’s alter ego "ROMAN POLANSKI” who she claims to be a violent boy inside her, is also named after a pedophile.
Why BTS should of Not did a collaboration with Nicki
I do not hate bts, nor do I think that they should be crucified for this collaboration. However I do believe that they should be called out and educated on this matter (as this is not their first time collabing with a problematic artist.) Even though this is just a collaboration this sends out an entirely wrong message to their fans and supporters. Bts constantly sings about social issues, mental health, and the struggles that many face, eluding fans to believe that they are “woke”. Is it their fault that they got this title? Not necessarily. But I am a strong believer in “practice what you preach”. If you want to sing about social issues and create a campaign centred around stopping violence, then you yourself should be an active participant, in trying to aid those who suffer from these social issues and to either a. speak out about violence or b. just not support violence in any shape or form. Collaborating with a women who has been called out countless times for being a rapist/abuse supporter is not the way to do it. Supporting said rappers album on twitter again is NOT the way to do this. When the campaign page it self says: “BTS joins hands with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)to stage campaigns against violence toward children and teens around the world, with the hope of making the world a better place through music.” How in the world can they support their decision or explain this collaboration? They claim to want to make the world a better place through music yet collaborate with someone who stands for the exact opposite of their campaign.
In Conclusion
This collaboration was poorly thought out and made me lose some respect for BTS (I still do respect them again this isn’t hate) . This women clearly is not a good representation in BTS’ beliefs and collaborating with her may give her more supporters which honestly she doesn’t deserve.

i like the fact that they didn’t give hyyh a solid ending. i love that it’s optimistic and hopeful. that even if they didn’t totally find themselves or solve everything, they’re still on the route to. it’s realistic and beautiful. no, they didn’t immediately fall back together and perhaps we don’t understand every detail behind the events during the hyyh storyline but i think im more content with an open ending tbh. jin says in one of the last entry of the notes that it may not be today or tomorrow but they will find their way back to each other and once again laugh by the sea together. it’s beautiful.
