its like………..yeah but have you ever heard of tact, or social cues, or minding your business……….like if you were in public and you overheard a person at the next table telling their friend about a terrible breakup or a family member dying or something super personal like that… you would not just jump in and join that conversation. it wouldnt be your place. just like its not your place to reblog ppl’s personal posts.

that doesnt mean you literally cant do it. it does mean that if youre asked not to do it, or even if the person doesnt specify but you know its a personal thing, and you still do it, ppl have the right to be upset with you. if you disrespect ppl’s boundaries, they will no longer want to be around you, in real life or on the internet. if you transgress social norms, there are social consequences, thats just how it works buddy. 

so yeah. the internet is a public forum, please behave as you would in a public space and mind your own damn business.

you know… with this rise in interest in east asian culture and “aesthetics” over the past couple of years also comes with a rise in asian cultural appropriation… so for every nonasian out there who would consider themselves a fan of cutesy asian things or stuff like kpop or anime, you guys have an obligation to people of the culture you’re enjoying to be informed and educated about their struggles. it’s not right to love and consume cultures that’s not your own while ignoring the people who are part of them. read up on appropriation, the fetishisation and infantilisation of east asian women and desexualisation of asian men, whitewashing in media, xenophobia, the erasure of our achievements and the model minority myth. you owe it to us east asians to be educated on topics that concern us if you’re going to continue to consume media and content we make.

we don’t talk about the fact that jin wrote the ending of spring day enough! the whole song is so bittersweet and a big part of what makes it that is the change in lyrics in the ending despite the repetition of the same chorus melody!! the original lyrics “snowflakes are falling and flying further away bit by bit” as well as “how long do i have to wait, how many more sleepless nights do i need before i can see you again, before i can meet you again” is replaced with “cherry blossoms are blooming and the winter is ending” and “if you wait a little longer, wait a few nights longer, i will come meet you, i will come get you” and that replaces melancholy with hope, bitterness with sweetness, and winter with spring. personally i think the hope inspired by the ending even changes the meaning of the last “bogoshipda” from “i miss you” to “i want to see you” and that’s not only really clever but also very touching; that hope is at the very heart of the emotions and message spring day conveys as a song and jin did That.
